Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit alternatives: what to use if the add-on does not fit
Anjaneyulu Jadda, SEO and AI visibility · Updated
If you want an alternative to the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit, the main options are Peec AI or Otterly.AI for dedicated prompt tracking, Ahrefs Brand Radar if you prefer the Ahrefs suite, AthenaHQ for more engines, and XeoRank if you want SEO, AI visibility and site edits in one plan. If you already pay for Semrush, though, its add-on is the simplest choice, and this page explains when that is true.
We make XeoRank, one of the tools compared here. Every price and feature below comes from vendor pages checked on 13 October 2026. Prices change, so confirm before you buy.
The short answer
For teams already on the Semrush SEO Toolkit, the AI Visibility Toolkit is the simplest path. Ahrefs customers have the equivalent in Brand Radar. For AI tracking alone, Peec or Otterly cost less per prompt, and XeoRank covers SEO, AI visibility and someone to make the changes.
What the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit costs
Semrush's AI pricing page lists the AI Visibility Toolkit at $99 a month per domain, billed annually, with 25 custom prompts and 300 reports a day. Extra users start at $45 a month. It tracks ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity, and Semrush's knowledge base also names AI Mode. The same knowledge base says the AI toolkit has no free trial.
Site Audit and Position Tracking are not in the AI toolkit. They sit in the separate SEO Toolkit. If you want SEO and AI visibility together, Semrush sells them as Semrush One: the Starter tier is $199 a month billed monthly, or $165.17 a month billed annually, with 50 prompts, according to the main pricing page.
Why people look for an alternative
Cost for teams that are not already on Semrush. If you do not need the rest of Semrush, $99 a month per domain for 25 prompts is about $3.96 per prompt per month by our arithmetic, more than Peec AI or Otterly charge per prompt. If you do need SEO tools too, the bundle starts at $165.17 a month on annual billing.
No site edits. The toolkit reports what AI engines say. It does not change your pages.
A read-only MCP server that needs a higher plan. Semrush's MCP server is read-only and needs Semrush One Advanced or SEO Business plus API units. You can ask an AI assistant about your data, but it cannot act on your site through Semrush.
What Semrush does well
The AI toolkit fits into the rest of Semrush: if your team already uses Site Audit, Position Tracking and keyword research there, AI data sits next to the rest. Semrush is also well cited by AI engines itself. In our check on 13 October 2026, we asked four SEO-platform questions on ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity; the 12 answers cited 93 different domains, semrush.com was cited 11 times and on all three engines, and xeorank.com was not cited at all.

The alternatives in more detail
XeoRank
XeoRank puts SEO, AI visibility and site edits in one plan. It asks ChatGPT, Gemini (grounded in Google Search) and Perplexity your buyer questions and reports each engine separately. Pro is $49 per site a month on our pricing page and includes 100 tracked keywords, the site crawler, Core Web Vitals, Search Console and GA4; the pricing page shows what each plan includes. Starter is $19 a month with a 14-day free trial and no card.
Every plan includes MCP and API access. Through the XeoRank MCP server, Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor can edit existing WordPress pages, including Elementor layouts, and Framer and code sites. Your AI assistant asks before each change, WordPress writes stay off for a site until you enable them, and every change to a WordPress page's content is snapshotted and restorable.
Where XeoRank is weaker: no prompt-volume data, and it tracks three engines, without Google AI Overviews or AI Mode. If your team relies on other Semrush tools, XeoRank does not replace all of them.
Best for teams that need SEO, AI visibility and site edits in one plan. Skip it if you would miss the rest of the Semrush suite.
Ahrefs Brand Radar
Brand Radar is the closest like-for-like swap: AI tracking from the vendor of a full SEO suite. The USD pricing page lists it from $199 a month and says it is available as a standalone tool that comes with a free Ahrefs account; Ahrefs Lite, at $129, includes 5 tracked AI prompts. It covers AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot, and core Ahrefs has Site Audit and Rank Tracker.
Best for teams that pay for Ahrefs rather than Semrush.
Peec AI
Peec AI Starter is $95 a month ($80 annual) for 50 prompts tracked daily on three models, with unlimited users and a 7-day free trial. Good for measurement only. See Peec AI alternatives.
Best for tracking more prompts than the Semrush toolkit includes, without the rest of a suite.
Otterly.AI
Otterly Lite is about $25 to $29 a month for 15 prompts on four engines, with a 14-day free trial. The lowest entry price we found. See Otterly alternatives.
Best for a low-cost start with a short prompt list.
AthenaHQ
AthenaHQ Starter is $295 a month for 11 engines and publishes posts to eight CMSs, with a free plan to try first. See AthenaHQ alternatives.
Best for teams that want more engines and publishing to a CMS.
When to stay with Semrush
If you already pay for the Semrush SEO Toolkit and use it every week, adding the AI Visibility Toolkit is the simplest path. Your keywords, audits and AI data stay in one login, and nobody has to learn a new tool.
Best for teams already on the Semrush SEO Toolkit. Skip it if you only need AI tracking, since Peec or Otterly cost less per prompt.
How to choose
- If you already pay for Semrush, start with its AI toolkit and only look elsewhere if 25 prompts or the missing site edits become a problem.
- If you pay for Ahrefs instead, Brand Radar is the equivalent.
- If you only need AI tracking, Peec or Otterly cost less per prompt.
- If you need SEO, AI visibility and someone to make the changes, and Semrush One is more than you want to spend, XeoRank covers all three from $49 per site.

Sources and how we compared
We compared each tool using its own pricing page, feature pages and help documentation, all checked on 13 October 2026. For each one we recorded the lowest paid plan, how many prompts it includes, the AI engines it tracks, its technical SEO coverage, whether it can change your website, and whether it offers an MCP server.
Where two of a vendor's own pages disagree, we show both figures. We did not buy every plan, so features behind a sales call are described from the vendor's documentation. XeoRank is our product, and its details come from our own pricing page and documentation. The citation counts in the section on what Semrush does well are our own observation, not a vendor figure: we asked four SEO-platform questions on ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity on 13 October 2026.
