SEO MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Cursor
Vikas Chamarthi, Founder · Updated
An MCP server lets the AI assistant you already use do SEO work directly instead of describing it. XeoRank's server is at https://mcp.xeorank.com/mcp. Connect it to Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor or VS Code and the assistant can crawl your site, read your Search Console data, check where you rank, test whether ChatGPT and Gemini mention you, and make the fix on your WordPress site, asking you before each change.
It is listed in the official MCP Registry as com.xeorank/xeorank.
What you can ask it to do
These are real requests the server handles, end to end, from a chat:
- "Crawl example.com and list the pages with missing titles, broken links or redirect chains."
- "Which queries in Search Console get impressions at positions 4 to 20 for /pricing? Rewrite the title and meta description to target them."
- "Ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity who the best accounting software for freelancers is, and tell me which sites they cite instead of us."
- "Generate Organization and FAQPage JSON-LD for the homepage and add it."
- "Clone our best landing page as a draft, change the city to Austin, and send me a preview link."
- "Check robots.txt and tell me whether GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot can read the blog."
The server has more than 200 tools across site audits, keyword research and tracking, Search Console and GA4, AI visibility, Core Web Vitals, content briefs and WordPress editing. You do not need to know their names. The assistant picks them.
How it is different from other AI visibility MCP servers
Several AI visibility platforms now ship an MCP server, and they mostly work on their own data. Peec AI's tools read reports and manage prompts, brands, tags and topics. Profound's MCP reads visibility, citation and shopping data, runs Profound agent workflows and manages prompts and knowledge bases, and is available on the Enterprise plan. Writesonic's MCP page describes read-only access with write actions on the roadmap, while a June 2026 blog post says it can now manage prompts, competitors and topics. All of that is useful for tracking. (Checked 13 October 2026.)
XeoRank's server also covers the step after the report: changing the site. On WordPress it edits existing pages and posts, including Elementor layouts, sets SEO titles and meta descriptions, adds schema, uploads images, manages menus and templates, and restores an earlier snapshot of a page's content if you do not like the result. The same server handles Framer projects and code sites deployed through GitHub and Vercel, and it is on every plan, including the $19 Starter plan. For Elementor sites, the Elementor MCP guide compares it with Elementor's official server.
| Task | Typical AI visibility MCP | XeoRank MCP |
|---|---|---|
| Read which prompts cite competitors | Yes | Yes |
| Ask the AI engines a buyer question on demand | Varies | Yes |
| Crawl the site for technical SEO issues | No | Yes |
| Read Search Console queries and pages | Rarely | Yes |
| Edit an existing WordPress or Elementor page | No | Yes, your AI assistant asks first |
| Roll back a change | No | Yes, from a snapshot of WordPress page content |
Safety: nothing ships without you
Giving an AI write access to a live site needs guard rails, so these are on by default:
- Writes are off per site. You turn them on for one WordPress site at a time, and you can turn them off again.
- New pages go to drafts. A new landing page or a cloned page is created as a draft; edits to an existing page change it directly.
- Every page edit keeps a snapshot. Changes to a page's content are snapshotted first, up to 20 per page, and you can restore any of them. SEO meta, menus and custom code are not snapshotted.
- Preview before publish. The assistant can send you a private preview link for a draft.

What it costs
MCP and API access come with every plan. Starter is $19 a month for one site, with a 14-day free trial and no card to start. Pro is $49 per site a month and Growth is $109 per site a month; both add more AI visibility prompts, more tracked keywords and larger crawls. Usage that costs us money per call, such as live rank checks and AI answer scans, draws from the monthly credit allowance, and each action shows its cost before it runs. See pricing.
Questions
- What is an SEO MCP server?
- An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server gives an AI assistant a set of tools it can call. An SEO MCP server exposes SEO work as those tools: crawling a site, reading Search Console data, checking rankings, testing AI answers and editing pages. The assistant decides which tool to call; the server does the work and returns the data.
- Which AI assistants work with the XeoRank MCP server?
- Claude (Claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Claude Code), ChatGPT connectors, Codex, Cursor and VS Code with Copilot. All of them connect to https://mcp.xeorank.com/mcp. Most sign in with your XeoRank account; Codex can do the same or use an API key.
- Can the MCP server change my website without asking?
- No. Your AI assistant asks before each tool call, and WordPress writes are off for every site until you turn them on for that site. New pages are built as drafts, every change to a page's content keeps a snapshot you can restore, and you can get a preview link for a draft before it goes live.
- Is the MCP server included in the price?
- Yes. MCP and API access are on every plan, including the $19 Starter plan. Your AI assistant subscription is separate.
