Profound alternatives: 8 AI visibility tools compared on price, engines and what they fix
Anjaneyulu Jadda, SEO and AI visibility · Updated
Profound is one of the best-funded AI visibility platforms, and its research on how AI engines cite sources is some of the most useful public data in the field. It is also built for large teams. As of 13 October 2026 its pricing page shows a 7-day free trial and a custom-priced Enterprise plan, and its MCP server is listed under Enterprise.
If you are an agency, a consultant or a growing business that wants a published price, or you need the tool to fix your site as well as measure it, these are the alternatives worth a look. We checked every price and feature below on the vendor's own pages on 13 October 2026. Prices change often, so confirm before you buy.
The short answer
Stay with Profound if you are an enterprise brand that needs SSO, SCIM and compliance reviews, or wants its prompt-volume data. If you only need to measure, pick on engines and prompts per dollar: Peec, Otterly or Scrunch. If you already pay for Semrush or Ahrefs, add their AI module before buying another tool. If the same person has to measure, fix the site and report to a client, XeoRank does the SEO and the edits too.

When to stay with Profound
Be honest with yourself about this first. Profound is a strong choice if you are an enterprise brand that needs SSO, SCIM and compliance reviews, tracks many brands or markets, wants CDN-level logs of AI crawler visits, or wants Profound's prompt-volume data. None of the cheaper tools below match all of that.
Best for enterprise brands that need SSO, SCIM and compliance reviews. Skip it if you want a published self-serve price.
1. XeoRank, AI visibility plus the SEO work and the fixes
XeoRank is the option on this list that combines three jobs in one plan: tracking AI answers, a classic technical SEO audit with rank tracking and Search Console data, and an AI agent that can change the site.
- Tracking: XeoRank asks ChatGPT, Gemini (grounded in Google Search) and Perplexity your buyer questions and reports each engine separately, next to an overall rate. Starter is $19, Pro $49 per site a month and Growth $109 per site; see pricing for what each plan includes.
- SEO: site crawler, Core Web Vitals, keyword research and clustering, rank tracking for 100 keywords on Pro, Search Console and GA4.
- Fixes: through the XeoRank MCP server, Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor can edit existing WordPress pages, including Elementor layouts, and Framer and code sites. Your AI assistant asks before each change, WordPress writes stay off until you enable them, and every change to a WordPress page's content can be rolled back.
Where it falls short: fewer engines than Profound or AthenaHQ (no Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek or Meta AI), fewer prompts than Scrunch's entry plan, and no prompt-volume estimates.
Best for the person who has to measure, fix the site and report to a client. Skip it if engine count or prompt-volume data decides the purchase.
2. AthenaHQ, the most engines at a self-serve price
AthenaHQ has a free Essential plan with credits on five engines, and a $295-a-month Starter plan covering 11 engines, including Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral. It publishes posts to WordPress, Webflow, Shopify, Wix, Framer, Payload, Sanity and Contentful. API access is a paid add-on to the Starter plan. Its crawler audits public pages for JavaScript dependence, title tags, structured data and AI crawler access, but a full technical SEO crawl and keyword rank tracking are not described. See our AthenaHQ alternatives page for more.
Best for teams that want the most engines at a self-serve price. Skip it if your work also covers full technical SEO audits and rankings.
3. Peec AI, clean prompt tracking with a full MCP
Peec AI starts at $95 a month ($80 billed annually) for 50 prompts on three models of your choice, with unlimited users. Extra models cost more, and Enterprise tracks up to 13. Its MCP server is one of the most complete for managing prompts, brands and topics. It does not crawl your site or publish changes.
Best for teams that only need to measure and want to manage prompts, brands and topics through an MCP server. Skip it if you need a site crawl or published changes.
4. Otterly.AI, the lowest entry price
Otterly Lite costs about $25 to $29 a month (both figures appear on its pricing page) for 15 prompts, with ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot included. AI Mode, Gemini and Claude are add-ons. It also runs GEO audits of individual URLs for crawlability, bot access and page speed. Its MCP server starts on the $189 Standard plan.
Best for teams that want the lowest entry price and only need to measure. Skip it if you want Gemini or Claude in the base price.
5. Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit, if you already live in Semrush
The AI Visibility Toolkit is $99 a month per domain, billed annually, for 25 custom prompts on ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity. Site Audit and Position Tracking are in the separate SEO Toolkit, so a team that wants both pays for both. It does not change your site.
Best for teams that already live in Semrush. Skip it if you want site audits in the same purchase or a tool that changes your site.
6. Ahrefs Brand Radar, AI mentions next to backlink data
Brand Radar tracks AI mentions and cited pages. The USD pricing page lists it from $199 a month and says it is available as a standalone tool that comes with a free Ahrefs account, so you do not need a plan such as Lite ($129) first. It covers AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot. Its pre-built prompt index is large. It does not change your site.
Best for Ahrefs subscribers who want AI mentions next to backlink data. Skip it if you need a tool that changes your site.
7. Scrunch, more prompts on the entry plan
Scrunch Core is $250 a month for 125 unique prompts on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot, plus 5 site audits a month. The custom-priced Enterprise plan covers nine engines and lists AXP, which serves a separate AI-readable version of your site to bots rather than editing the pages people see.
Best for teams that want 125 prompts on one self-serve plan. Skip it if you want the fix made on the real page.
8. Writesonic, an AI writer with tracking attached
Writesonic Starter is $79 a month billed annually for 50 prompts on ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews, 15 articles and 10 site audits. Its WordPress integration publishes posts as drafts. More engines are Enterprise only.
Best for teams that want an AI writer with tracking attached. Skip it if you need more engines without an Enterprise plan.
How to choose
- If you only need to measure, pick on engines and prompts per dollar: Peec, Otterly or Scrunch.
- If you already pay for Semrush or Ahrefs, add their AI module before buying another tool.
- If the same person has to measure, fix the site and report to a client, pick a tool that does the SEO and the edits too. That is the gap XeoRank was built for.
Whatever you choose, track the questions your buyers ask rather than your brand name, and track each engine separately. Our guide to AEO vs GEO vs SEO explains why.
Sources and how we compared
We compared each tool using its own pricing page, feature pages and help documentation, all checked on 13 October 2026. For each one we recorded the lowest paid plan, the AI engines and prompts on that plan, its technical SEO coverage, whether it can change your website, and whether it offers an MCP server.
Where two of a vendor's own pages disagree, we show both figures. We did not buy every plan, so features behind a sales call are described from the vendor's documentation. XeoRank is our product, and its details come from our own pricing page and documentation.
