Keyword density checker

Paste the text of a page to see how often each word and phrase appears, and how often your target keyword is used. Everything is counted in your browser.

Words: 0

Counted in your browser. Nothing you paste is sent anywhere.

How to use the results

Look at the two- and three-word phrases first. They show what the page is actually about. If the phrase you want to rank for is missing, or appears once in a long page, the page may not cover the topic as directly as you think. If one phrase appears in nearly every sentence, rewrite with natural variations and related terms.

What to check instead of density

  • The phrase people search for appears in the title, the H1 and early in the page.
  • Each section answers one question, with the answer in its first two sentences.
  • Related terms a reader would expect are covered, not just the main phrase repeated.

Google's spam policies describe keyword stuffing as filling a page with keywords in an attempt to manipulate rankings. For a full page review, run the free SEO, AEO and GEO analysis, and see keyword clustering for planning which phrases belong on which page.

Questions

What is a good keyword density?
There is no target number. Google does not publish one and its spam policies warn against keyword stuffing. Use the counts to spot a phrase repeated so often that the text reads unnaturally, or a topic you meant to cover that barely appears.
Does keyword density affect rankings?
Not as a ratio. Search engines look at whether a page covers the topic and answers the query. Repeating a phrase more does not help and can hurt if it reads as stuffing.
Why are common words left out of the phrase lists?
Words like the, and and of would fill every list. They are skipped at the start and end of phrases so the tables show topics instead.
