Framer SEO with an AI agent that edits your project server-side
Vikas Chamarthi, Founder · Updated
To do Framer SEO with an AI agent, connect your Framer project to XeoRank with a Framer API key. Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor can then audit the published site, write CMS posts, edit page text, add JSON-LD schema through custom code and publish, all server-side, without the Framer editor open.
XeoRank uses its own connection to Framer's API. It is separate from Framer's editor plugin, so nobody has to keep a browser tab open while the agent works.
What the agent can do in a Framer project
- CMS: list collections and their fields, create a collection such as a blog with the fields you need, and create or update items by slug. Because items are matched by slug, running the same update again changes the existing post instead of adding a duplicate.
- Pages and text: list pages, read the text on a page and edit it node by node, such as a hero heading that does not say what the product is.
- Custom code: add HTML at the start or end of the head or body. That is where JSON-LD schema, extra meta tags and analytics snippets go.
- Images: find candidate images, upload them into the project and place them on the canvas.
- Layouts and components: build sections and pages as native Framer layers with the project's text styles, add code components, and leave the result editable by your team in Framer.
- Publish: push staged changes to staging, or to production.
CMS and canvas changes are staged and not live until the project is published, which gives you a review step before anything reaches visitors.
A Framer SEO workflow
- Add the published site to XeoRank and crawl it. Crawls started from the dashboard can render JavaScript with headless Chromium, and the crawler checks titles, meta descriptions, H1s, alt text, broken links, redirect chains, duplicate content, conflicting canonical tags and errors in existing structured data, among others.
- Connect Search Console and GA4, so the agent can see which queries each page gets and how much traffic arrives from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and Copilot.
- Ask the agent to fix a batch: "Add Organization JSON-LD to the site head, rewrite the hero heading on /pricing so it names the product, and add alt text to the homepage images."
- Review what changed, publish to staging and check the staging site before you push to production.
- Recrawl to confirm the issues are gone.
For new content, the content engine builds a brief from your Search Console queries, content gaps and the headings rival pages cover. Your assistant can then write the post into a Framer CMS collection, where it stays staged until you publish. The rankability score on the draft is computed by rules, not by a model.
Measure what changed
Fixes are only worth the effort if they move something, so check the same sources afterwards:
- Search Console: the business report compares clicks, impressions, CTR and average position with the previous period, splits branded from non-branded searches using brand terms you set, and lists your top queries and top landing pages. It exports as a PDF or a Google Doc.
- GA4: sessions, engagement and key events, including visits referred by AI assistants.
- Rank tracking for the keywords you care about, by country, state or city, language and device. Live checks are on Pro and above.
- AI visibility for your buyer questions, with each engine's answers shown separately, next to an overall rate.
Publishing on a shared project
Framer publishing applies every staged change in the project, not only the agent's. If your team or your client has unpublished edits in the Framer editor, a publish from the agent ships those too. On a shared or client project, check what is staged and confirm with the people working in it before you ask the agent to publish, and use staging first.
Connect a Framer project
- In Framer, open Site Settings, then General, then API Keys, and create a key.
- With the XeoRank MCP server connected to your assistant, ask it to connect your Framer project, and give it the project URL and the key. XeoRank checks the key and stores it encrypted.
- Ask the agent to list your Framer pages. If they come back, the connection works.
Connecting again with a new key replaces the old one, so you can rotate keys without starting over. The MCP setup guide covers connecting the server to each assistant, and the Claude and ChatGPT pages walk through those two.
Where Framer fits next to other platforms
The same agent edits WordPress sites through the free XeoRank Connector plugin and code sites through GitHub and Vercel. If you build on more than one platform, one workspace covers all of them. See SEO for web designers for how that works across client sites.
What it does not do
- It does not keep snapshots of Framer pages. On WordPress, each change to a page's content stores a snapshot you can restore; on Framer, review changes in staging before they reach production.
- It does not publish without being asked. Publishing is a separate step that you or your agent run.
- The content engine's own publish step writes to WordPress (a draft for new articles). On Framer, your assistant writes the CMS item instead, and you review it before publishing.
- It does not track every AI engine. XeoRank asks ChatGPT, Gemini (grounded in Google Search) and Perplexity your buyer questions; see pricing for what each plan includes.
- It does not suggest internal links. The crawler flags pages that have no internal links.
Pricing

Questions
- Do I need to keep the Framer editor open?
- No. XeoRank connects to your project through Framer's API with a key you create in Site Settings, so the agent's edits happen server-side while the editor is closed.
- Where do I find a Framer API key?
- In your Framer project, open Site Settings, then General, then API Keys. Create a key there and give it to your AI assistant together with the project URL when you connect the project to XeoRank.
- Can the agent add schema markup to a Framer site?
- Yes. It generates JSON-LD from the page content and adds it to the project's custom code in the head or body. Like every Framer change, it stays staged until the project is published.
- Will publishing from XeoRank ship my team's unpublished edits?
- Yes, it can. Publishing a Framer project ships every staged change, including edits made in the Framer editor that nobody has published yet. Check what is staged with your team first, and publish to staging before production.
- Which AI assistants can edit Framer through XeoRank?
- Any assistant connected to the XeoRank MCP server, including Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor and VS Code.
